I’m in her house
and she asks me
to leave.
“I need to write
or fuck,”
she says
“It’s all the same
anyway.”
She reminds me
of stained glass
and kaleidoscopes,
of
butterflies
with mismatched wings
and
the warm sound
of creaking wood
before it splinters.
She’s on the verge
but holds it
all together
with store-bought
glue
and duct tape.
The skin under her nails
show me how many nights
she’s spent
not alone –
but she surprises me
with the ache
in her lower back
and I wonder
how many nights have been
spent
curled against her own knees.
She tells me
that she’s searching;
wandering;
lost.
I always find her though,
her fingers wrapped around a bottle
or a cock –
it’s all the same
anyway.
She still has more sunrises
than fingers –
the problem is missing
them.

So, in this very moment…
I am frozen because of these lines:
“I’m in her house
and she asks me
to leave.
“I need to write
or fuck,”
she says
“It’s all the same
anyway.”
She reminds me
of stained glass

before it splinters.
She’s on the verge

but she surprises me
with the ache
in her lower back
and I wonder
how many nights have been

She tells me
that she’s searching…”
I actually said, “JESUS,” while reading this. Clutch ending too. YES!

Loads of quotable passages. Loads. And loads. Let’s just assume I’ve quoted it all back you as pieces I love.

I really loved this. You use words like flavor it’s a melange of ingredients that expressed as one make up a favorite meal and while you can’t say why you keep hoping you’ll taste it again

And where taste is concerned, I’m pretty sure your words are sweeter than mine. Thank you. 🙂
