An Unconventional Guide to Misery

A callous tongue
once urged
me to write a book
about being miserable.

But I’ve nothing to share,
that is not already known –

What do I write?

That it was honesty,
not
curiosity,
that killed the cat?

Or that love
strokes with frozen
fingers?

Or that bottomless coffee
does,
in fact,
have a bottom?

But madness
is learned.

And that,
I can teach.
